ARTIST STATEMENT
The work that I do, is the result of an ongoing study of people who are in the "limelight"; performers - dancers, musicians, actors and models - the demeanor and poise of people who make a living of being observed.
I find the similiarities in the inverse: Life as a stage. I observe in paint and graphite, the similiar demeanor and poise of those who are passing through everyday life, unaware or vaguely aware that they are being observed. It is the common thread between the two that creates my own view of humanity.
Technically, my main focus is with the essence of color and light, whether it be natural or "limelight". I continually work towards a vision to see what is illuminated and separate the subtle distinguishing qualities of each individual illumination from another.
